WebFWD is Mozilla’s Global Accelerator, a 3-month long hands-on program designed to help entrepreneurs from around the globe build healthy businesses. The curriculum combines the best of startup and open source principles and we connect the entrepreneurs around the globe with world-class resources and expertise.
The program consists of weekly training sessions and exercises, office hours with industry experts, intensives pitch practices, ongoing coaching from the world’s best technologists, investors, designers, marketers, and other awesome folks.
Unlike traditional accelerators, it is a global program which means that no relocation is required. Anyone can participate from any where in the world. The only time we ask our participating teams to visit our Headquarters in California is for orientation and graduation, where we organize several events to introduce our teams to Mozilla network as well as to the entrepreneurial ecosystem in California. During the rest of the program, we host regular meetings with our teams through video conferencing. Examples of countries that have been represented in the program so far are Germany, France, India, Sweden, Romania, Greece, UK, Canada, and US.
WebFWD exists to extend Mozilla’s mission which is to promote openness, innovation, and opportunity on the Web. And we look for innovators building mobile/web technologies:
…to make the Web better and more open
…open source (at minimum, a component) or leveraging HTML5
…with a business model
…at a prototype stage or beyond – if it could go up in a week or so that would be great
