Viable Tech Demo – Showcasing London’s Emerging Tech Talent –
By The Tech Lawyer blog:
The inaugural London Technology Week was held in the country’s capital last week and in keeping with our focus on the tech sector and our creative values, Thomas Eggar was at the heart of events in London. Promoted by the Mayor of London and London & Partners, London Technology Week saw over 200 events take place across five days – from workshops and showcases to full-blown exhibitions – in a bid to “showcase London’s role as the digital capital of Europe”.
Hosting The Founders Hive and Viable Tech Demo, the event was a showcase for three start-ups with viable technology, some market traction and who were looking for the next step in investment and/or strategic advice. The audience was a mix of seasoned tech investors, professional advisers and those simply interested in hearing about the latest creativity coming out of London.
Our three start-ups – Campus Board, Special2Us and Neur – provided demos of their diverse products and talked openly about what inspired them to start, the challenges they face and the financial projections for their businesses. What was so evident from all three presentations is just how much developments across all forms of technology, particularly cloud-based software and platforms, are facilitating such exciting business ideas and solutions. Supported by various incubators and tech hubs, such as Google Campus, it’s also the speed at which these businesses are coming to market that is so astonishing.
London is already a digital powerhouse in global terms and research conducted by Oxford Economics on behalf of London & Partners only shows an upward trajectory for tech businesses. By 2024 London’s tech scene will be contributing a further £12bn to the UK economy and have created an additional 46,000 jobs. In light of this, we are already planning how we make Thomas Eggar’s contribution to LTW 2015 even more impressive.
